France strike affecting Dover ferries
A strike in France has been severely disrupting the Ferry services to and from the Port of Dover in Kent, UK.
The Port of Calais has been shut by the 24-hour strike, which started just after 23:00 BST, on Wednesday.
A Port of Dover spokesman said freight traffic was building up, and that Operation Stack was imminent.
Kent Police got involved in the operation to help parking lorries on the M20 coast-bound when the Channel Tunnel, English Channel or Dover port are shut.
The Port of Dunkirk is open and motorists heading there are being advised to travel to Dover via the M2 and A2.
Travellers are being urged to contact their ferry operator before travelling.
