7 Ukrainian soldiers died in an ambush
Seven Ukrainian soldiers and one pro-Russian separatist died in what the defence ministry described as the attack with the heaviest loss of life for government troops in a single battle since soldiers were sent to end the separatist movement.
The clash happened in a populated area in the eastern town of Kramatorsk where the Kiev soldier were caught in an ambush. Those who fell dead were victimis of a rocket grenade launcher found on the site of the clash.
'The area where the fight started is a populated area and no one expected it to happen there because you can’t fight there, people are living there and so the terrorists used this to carry out the ambush,' said Metreshkivsky, the Ukrainian army spokesman.
On Monday, pro-separatists leaders warned that all government troops located in the Donetsk region will be considered occupying forces and should retreat.
