527 DNA tests to identify student's rapist
527 people - all male students and staff from a school in western France will have to give DNA samples to the police to be tested.
The measure has been taken after a 16 years old student was sexually assaulted on September 30, in a badly lit bathroom.
Police found DNA samples on her clothing but no match for it in their database.
‘This happened during the school day in a confined space. The decision to take such a large sample was made because it was the only way to advance the investigation,’ said Chantal Devaux, the school director.
The costs to analyze the DNA samples from 475 students, 31 teachers and 21 other people who could have been on campus during the assault will rise up to $6,900. All the negative DNA result will be destroyed and not saved into the national database.
