Julio Iglesias awarded best Latin singer
Julio Iglesias was awarded for being the most successful Latin singer of all times with over 300 million albums sold worldwide.
The award was presented to him during a tour by Sony CEO Doug Morris. He reffered to the singer as 'a talent like no other.'
Upon receiving the award, Iglesias said: 'It’s not a question of 10 or 15 years, it’s a question of 45 or 50 years. It’s a moment when people open their arms and hearts and like what you do. And I’m very grateful for that because I never expected to have a formula where you put this and this together and people want to react. It’s just something that happens, or doesn’t happen.'
The singer has made, so far, 80 studio albums, sung in duets with numerous artists including Frank Sinatra, Dolly Parton or Diana Ross and has recorded in 14 languages. Furthermore, his new album of love ballads is to be released on May 19.
