Andrea Bocelli promotes ex-prisoners made wine
Renowned Italian opera singer, Andrea Bocelli, is lending his name and popularity to help promote an Italian wine partly produced by former prisoners.
Bocelli got into the campaign at Frescobaldi’s request. The Gorgona 2013 wine, produced on Gorgona, the smallest island in the Tuscan archipelago, from Vermentino and Ansonica grapes.
Helping to make the wine are 50 former inmates from the island who sought after work experience and viticulture knowledge.
Being a winemaker himself, Bocelli accepted to be the official face of the Gorgona 2013 wine.
He signed the label and wrote a message on the bottle: ‘This project, which I have decided to support at the request of Lamberto Frescobaldi, entwines two of my passions; the vineyard of course, but also the Tuscan archipelago, a true paradise on Earth. Gorgona, the most enchanting of the islands and yet the one that has suffered the most, is worthy of such enterprising and visionary projects. Like this one, to which I gladly offer my support,’ Bocelli wrote.
