Are you forced into a marriage? Smartphone app will help you
Norway has taken initiative to help those, often belonging to Asian cultures, who are being forced into arranged marriages.
A smartphone app called ‘Freedom Charity’ offers users information about how to recognize signs of an arranged marriage, what to do and where to get help from.
The app is designed to look like a game so that is doesn’t awaken suspicions in the wrong people.
It was launched just before the summer school holiday because many families send their children abroad to be married.
‘We are trying to stay on top of new technology and the new methods by which young people are now communicating. We have a new generation who have smartphones and by accessing the app they are just two buttons away from getting life-saving help,’ said Aneeta Prem, founder of Freedom Charity.
