
Salzburg exhibition hosts British creations
Slazburg became the home for three new groups of sculptures by British artist Tony Cragg. The renowned sculptor presented his works in an open air exhibition displayed on the Krauthugel, a large meadow area at the foot of the renowned castle of Salzburg.
The exhibition will be opened until the 29th of September. The British artist is already known in Slazburg because of his work. “Caldera”, a bronze sculpture made by him sits on Markartplatz in front of the State Theatre.
Cragg sent three sculptures for the exhibition called “Runner”, Point of View and Mixed Feelings. In total, the three pieces of art weigh more than 3.5 tones. “The work remain the property of the artist. We have invested our sponsorship money into the material – and also helped fund the transportation if the sculptures to Salzburg,” said Karl Gollegger, the president of the Salzburg Foundation.
He also added the cost for creating the three large bronze sculptures surpassed 100,000 euros and that the artist, Tony Cragg received no salary for the exhibition.
