Michelangelo exhibition opened in Rome
Michelangelo is probably the reason why Western art became more than art. Even 450 years after his death, the name still sparks high interest and curiosity. Rome hosts a Michelangelo exhibition that already brought together art lovers from Europe and not only.
Michelangelo brought his own touch to a variety of art forms (he was a poet, architect, sculptor, painter and engineer). The Renaissance master sculptured “Madonna of the Steps” when he was only 15 years old. The Exhibition starts with this master piece.
Art lovers, tourists and anyone who's curious enough has plenty of time to see some of his works. The exhibition at the Capitoline Museums runs until the 14th of September. It also features about 150 works of his such as oil paintings, sculptures, impressive sketches and busts.
Michelangelo was born in Arezzo in 1475 and learned to craft under Domenico and Davide Ghielandaio in Florence. He later moved to Rome and became close to the Vatican. He worked for six different popes and became very close to Christian faith in his old age as works like “Crucifixions” and “Resurrections” demonstrate.
