Consultations on the UN Security Council regarding North Korea
The UN Security Council meets on Thursday afternoon for consultations on the missile trucks recently made by North Korea, announced the UN mission in Luxembourg on Wednesday.
Luxembourg is holding the Council presidency in March.
The meeting, held with the doors closed, was convened at the request of the United States, according to the diplomats.
The ambassadors of the 15 member states of the Council will hear a status report, submitted by the Deputy for Political Affairs of the UN General Secretary, Jeffrey Feltman.
North Korea made on Wednesday a shooting test of ballistic missiles, in response to the Hague summit between Japan, South Korea and the United States, which denounced an "provocative escalation".
These shootings contravene the Security Council resolution, which is prohibiting any of Pyongyang's nuclear or ballistic activity.
The State Department announced that it is a "close cooperation with (its) allies and partners, including the UN Security Council, in order to adopt adevcate measures".
