Yanukovych urges a referendum in each Ukrainian region
Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, dismissed in February, urged on organizing a referendum in each Ukrainian region in order to determine their status, according to the Russian agency Itar-Tass.
"As President (...) I urge every Ukrainian reasonable citizen: do not let the scammers use you! Have a referendum on the status of each region of Ukraine," he said in the appeal to the Ukrainian people.
"Only referendums throughout Ukraine will not be able to stabilize the political situation and defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," he said.
Yanukovych, who fled Ukraine in February, who might be living on the outskirts of Moscow, according to press information, expressed himself after Crimea voted in a referendum its annexation to Russia.
He asked to be 'removed' from the Party of Regions, whose president he was. The party will meet on Saturday to define the strategy in the early presidential elections, scheduled for May 25.
The party acknowledged that it needs a complete ramniere and expressed their intention to participate in elections.
