Obama refuses any military intervention in Iraq
US President Barack Obama has refused to commit to any military combat intervention in Iraq against the ISIL militants but he will be sending some 300 military advisers to offer support to the government.
Although the Iraqi government has asked the US to offer them military assistance, Obama explained that further intelligence and surveillance research was needed before any intervention was made.
‘We will be prepared to take targeted and precise military actions if and when we determine the situation on the ground requires. If we do I will consult Congress and leaders in Iraq and in the region. We simply don’t have the ability to solve this problem by sending in tens of thousands of troops,’ stated Obama.
The US president also reminded Iran that it could have a beneficial role in managing the conflict if it’s message was the same as Washington’s.
