Russia’s Putin acclaimed for his latest decisions
Russia’s latest decision to withdraw the right to launch any military operations in Ukraine has been received with overwhelming positive feedback from Europe’s leaders, from Ukraine and from the Russian people.
The decision is seen as an act of goodwill in the effort to boost peace procedures in Ukraine.
Moreover, Russia’s Putin has made efforts to prolong the ceasefire deal term which is due Friday. He talked with leaders from Germany, France and Ukraine, asking to extend the truce, which he considers to be too short.
Putin’s actions seemed to have made a difference as the Ukrainian President, Petro Poroshenko announced that Ukrainian troops will continue to respect the truce terms, in spite of a deadly attack launched by rebels on a military helicopter.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Pavlo Klimkin, expressed his opinion regarding the latest turn in the conflict:‘Now we have a positive step, but we need other positive steps also, like support of the comprehensive peaceful plan by the president, by Russia, and we need of course effective control at the border.’
Meanwhile, Putin’s popularity has been significantly boosted by his latest actions, the Russian people responding positively especially to his commitment to protect Russian language speakers in Ukraine.
