US warship in the Black Sea
The USS Taylor Frigate entered the Black Sea on Tuesday announced the U.S. Navy. Ship Oliver Hazard Perry's (FFG 50) mission, with the base in Jacksonville (Florida), is to "ensure the commitment of the U.S. Navy NATO allies to strengthen engagement and improve interoperability in achieving common objectives in the region," said the U.S. Navy.
USS Taylor recently underwent repairs at a base in northwest Greece, and after a series of sea trials on performance, seaworthiness, speed and maneuverability, the frigate resumed operations, according to the same source.
The American vessel is mobilized in multi-role missions in the area of operations of the Sixth Fleet of the United States, in order to contribute to maritime security and to support NATO operations and mobilization in the region.
The U.S. Navy ships are constantly operating in the Black Sea, in compliance with the Montreux Convention and international law, says the press release posted by the U.S. Navy.
