Eleven-hour strike in German airports

Bad news for tourists traveling via Germany on Thursday. A public strike has been programed in all German airports so flight delays and cancellations are expected.

All flights arriving and leaving Germany will be affected on Thursday due to an eleven-hour strike called by the public workers union Verdi. People traveling via Frankfurt airport will have the biggest problems because it's Germany's largest one. Frankfurt airport is a major European hub with daily intercontinental flights to Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and both Americas.

It will not be the only airport affected. Hamburg, Hanover, Stuttgart, Munich, Dusseldorf airports will also be hit by the strike, Verdi officials confirmed. Freight handling crew and ground crew as well as security will also take part of the strike.

The biggest operator in Frankfurt, Lufthansa announced it will try to replace the flight plans and keep passenger inconvenience to a minimum, but at the same time confirmed Lufthansa Cargo will limit its services in the eleven-hour span.
