New record for French jobless people
Unfortunately, the number of people out of work in France had an increase, last month.
There are 31 500 job seekers, which leads to a new record for people who don't have a job.
The labour ministry vowed the government would “continue and intensify” its efforts to fight unemployment after the release of the latest figures.
It was a 0.9 percent increase from January and up by 4.7 percent from February, last year.
This has a big impact for the president’s government during local elections, since the unemployment is at 10.2 percent of the workforce.
Jean-Francois Cope said the figures were “yet another warning shot fired at the government”. So, he urged voters in Sunday’s local elections to “punish” the government for “denying reality and refusing to hear the anger of the French people”.
Local elections will have a second round of voting, on Sunday. Francois Hollande’s Socialist party had a decrease of popularity in the first round of elections, last Sunday, due to the voters' frustration over the jobs market.
