The Sewol ferry continues to claim lives after one of the divers searching for bodies in the sunken ferry died today.
Although a veteran diver, the 53-years-old man lost consciousness a few minutes after diving in the 80 feet deep water. It was his first dive in the Sewol ferry operation.
Following this incident, the South Korean government ordered health checks for all the divers implicated in the body recover mission.
Around 130 divers are currently searching for the 39 persons still missing while the death toll now standing at 263 people, not including the diver who died today.
Closed cabin doors that are blocked with debris are making it defficult for the divers to search the few rooms left unchecked.
Documents saved from the ferry revealed that the ship was being regularly overloaded. This piece of information has been taken into account as a possible cause for the ferry disaster.
