Van Gogh painting found after 40 years
'Cypress, sky and Country', a Van Gogh painting that went missing 40 years ago, has been found in a Spanish safe-deposit box.
Tax collectors came across the 1-foot by 1-foot, unframed work of art in December, while browsing through the contents of the box as part of a tax evasion procedure.
The painting dates back to 1889 when the painter was at the Saint-Rémy-de-Provence asylum, the same place where he created the famous 'Starry night'.
Authorities are currently investigating how the painting got there after it disappeared from the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.
