WWI commemorated with almost 900k poppies
888,246 ceramic poppies decorate today the ground surrounding the Tower of London.
Each poppy flower represents a fallen soldier in the World War I and the entire artwork is meant to commemorate the passing of 100 years since Great Britain became involved in the ‘war that was supposed to end all wars.’
Paul Cummings is the artist mastermind behind the event dubbed ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red.’
The poppy became a symbol for fallen soldiers as the most fierce battles of WWI took place in the poppy fields of Belgium and France.
