One million year old tools found in Spain
Spain has been a focus point for archeological discoveries due to the country's multicultural history and wealth. The latest discovery stunned every specialist in the country. A group of researchers found tools dating back one million years.
According to Spanish archeologist the figure could be true. The so called tools are just pieces of very hard rock called quartzite used by humans who lived back then to carve various materials such as wood, meat and others.
Spanish researchers claim Homo Ergaster and Homo Antecessor most likely used these tools. The items were discovered in Cuenca, a Spanish province, a region located in mid country. The team of archeologists was led by Santiago David Dominguez and Michel Munoz.
These archeological findings are part of a larger project started in Spain two years ago. There were about 20 archeological sites in the city, all aimed to look back at the Palaeolithic Age. “This proves the importance of this part of this region on the study of human origins,” said head of the research program at the University of Murcia, Ignacio Ruzi.
