Post-Pharaonic site to be restored
Ministry of Antiquities in Egypt will start in a little while an international competition for restoration of Saladin's Citadel.
The action is part of the Historic Cairo Rehabilitation Project, launched in 2000, that aims to increase the accessibility of tourists to the Medieval monument.
The Citadel was built almost 1,000 years ago to protect Cairo from crusaders invasions and contains several historic buildings and museums, a 19th-century mosque of Mohammed Ali and the first mosque in the country built in an Ottoman style - the Suleyman Pasha Mosque.
