Parade of stars at Les Rencontres d’Arles photography festival
The photography festival Les Rencontres d’Arles is at 45th edition this summer in Provençal. It will be a “parade” of figures that have made considerable contributions in previous years, as director François Hébel said during a press conference.
Lucien Clergue, one of the three founders, and three of the guest curators from past editions: Martin Parr (2004), Raymond Depardon (2006) and Christian Lacroix (2008) are expected at the festival this July.
The exhibit will feature historic Chinese photobooks; “La grande récréation” - a Picasso-inspired 1950s series of image children in harlequin costume; a tribute payd to local women’s traditional “Arlésienne” dress by Christian Lacroix and a project to mark the centenary of the First World War by Raymond Depardon.
