'Mask of Gorgon' goes home
After Tunisian revolution in 2011, 165 archaeological objects turned up in Sakher el-Materi’s villa in Hammamet, 70km southeast of Tunis. Among them was the “Mask of Gorgon”, a white marble artefact originally discovered in Annaba, formerly the Roman African city of Hippo Regius, in east Algeria, and it disappeared from there in 1996.
After almost three years, the legal procedures for the “Mask of Gorgon” return to Algeria were finalized.
