Alexander McQueen at the V&A; in London
The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London is organizing a retrospective of the late British fashion designer Alexander McQueen for March 14 - July 19, 2015.
“By staging the exhibition at the V&A, it feels like we are bringing his work home”, director of the V&A, Martin Roth said in a statement.
Andrew Bolton, the curator of the Costume Institute at the Met, who organized the blockbusting show “Savage Beauty” by McQueen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, will be the consultant curator of the V&A's retrospective.
"I always hoped that an exhibition would be shown in London, Alexander McQueen's home city, and I made 'Savage Beauty' always with a plan that one day it would be shown there. I worked on the [Met] exhibition for a year and I realized that it was only one essay that could written about him; there are so many facets to his work,” Bolton said.
Claire Wilcox, the museum's senior curator of fashion will be the curator of the V&A's exhibition.
