When F1 and Rallying collide
What do Luis Hamilton and Ken Block have in common? Probably the love for that adrenaline rush and the love for tattoos. Anyway, both are great pilots and their first direct meeting was on the beautiful Caribbean Island of Barbados.
The meeting, part of the Top Gear Festival in Barbados was hosted by the brand new Bushy Park Circuit. Two great names from two opposite worlds, but both powered by powerful engines was the best opportunity to get everyone from the Island in the stands.
Hamilton at the wheel of his F1 Mercedes AMG car took on rally driver Ken Block at the wheel of his Global Rallycross car. Although this was not an official race, it was everything people wanted to see. Donuts, smoking tires and lightning fast acceleration. “I've got a huge amount of respect for Ken Block as a driver so I jumped at the chance to go head to head against him in our cars. Racing Ken is something I've wanted to do for a long time,” said Hamilton.
“I had a tone of fun racing with Lewis during the Top Gear Festival Barbados. I never thought I'd find myself racing an F1 car with my Ford Fiesta,” said Block for Carribean360.
Here's the outcome of their race:
