Uruguay hopes Suarez can be recovered in time

One of the best players in European Football this season was Luis Suarez. The striker could miss the World Cup after injuring his meniscus, but the Uruguay Football Association is confident Suarez will be recovered in time.

It would be a devastating loos for Uruguay to lose Suarez, 2013-2014 Premier League most prolific scorer. The striker had surgery yesterday at his injured knee to repair his injured knee. The Football Association in Uruguay hopes Suarez will be ready in time. “Suarez might be ready to play in Brazil,” was the official statement released by the governing body of football in Uruguay.

Staff members of the Uruguay national team said the recovery time ranges from 15 days to four weeks. Uruguay is set to face Costa Rica on the 14th of June.

After having surgery, Suarez said he will try to be ready. “Many thanks to all of you for your support. Relax, because I'll get there and work hard these days to be 100% able to help my team mates,” said Suarez.

Most likely, Suarez the tear in his meniscus did not happen around the rim, but in the inner, thinner part of the meniscus. Normally, the surgery is actually a trimming of the uneven meniscus, because the thinner meniscus has pour circulation and does not cope well with stitches. Trimming the meniscus means Suarez will most likely be playing football again in a matter of three weeks, but on long term, his knee is vulnerable to arthritis.
