Thiago Alcantara will miss the World Cup
It's probably the worst new Vicente Del Bosque received before the Football World Cup in Brazil. Midfielder Thiago Alcantara will not be recovered in time and will miss the final tournament.
Bayern Munich's midfielder was named in the 30-men provisional squad, but he tore a ligament in his left knee that will require surgery. He will also miss the German Cup Final set to be played on Saturday when his team face Borussia Dortmund.
“This is bitter for Thiago and I feel sorry for him. A young man who wanted to come back at the World Cup, and suddenly his dreams are burst. We will take care of him now and make sure he is fit at the start of the next season,” said Kart-Heinz Rummeningge, Bayern's Chief Executive.
Spain is playing in Group B at the World Cup in Brazil where the reigning World Champions will face Netherlands, Chile and Australia.
