The 'clay war' is ready to begin
The second Grand Slam of the year is about to start and everyone is ready. Between 25th of May and 8th on June the world of tennis will only have eyes for the Parisian Clay at Ronald Garros.
This year's edition will be the 113th edition of the French Open and it will feature the biggest prize pool a grand slam event ever had. Almost 25 million euros are at stake, figure that made the 2014 French Open the riches event in tennis ever held.
Spaniard Rafael Nadal has 2,000 ATP points to defend because he is the defending champion and record holder for most trophies here. In the women's singles Serena Williams is the defending champion and first seed.
Everyone is already in Paris and players from ATP and WTA circuits are attending various events these days. Last night Andy Murray, Jo Wilfried Tsonga, Ana Ivanovic and Simona Halep were the stars of an event to promote the French Open.
