Super-Bale to the rescue

Real Madrid won the 2013-2014 Copa del Rey after defeating FC Barcelona in the Final. Gareth Bale scored the victory goal after a dazzling individual run. FC Barcelona is on the verge of not winning any trophy for the first time in six season.

Without the injured Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid came out to play and stunned the Catalans 11 minutes into the game. Angel Di Maria scored first after a fast counter-attack. Although having a huge ball possession Barcelona struggled to find the goal and were down by one at half time.

The young Marc Bartra, Martino's surprise leveled the score midway through the second half after heading the ball into the net. The last 25 minutes of the game were dominated absolutely by Xavi&co. However, Gareth Bale secured the victory and the trophy for Real Madrid after a thrilling run. The Welshman took the counter-attack to perfection and it brought him the admiration of half the stadium. “It was really special. We've won the first of the three available titles and we have to keep fighting for everything,” said Gareth Bale after the final.

Real Madrid won the Copa del Rey, it is qualified into the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League and still has a chance of winning the domestic competition. On the other side, 2013-2014 proves to be an awful year for FC Barcelona. The Catalans are out from the premium Euro-club competition, lost Copa del Rey and are regarded as third favorites on wining La Liga.
