Simona Halep rushed into the quarters
After the first three seeds were knocked out of the women's competition at Roland Garros. Romanian Simona Halep became the tournament favorite. She stormed into the quarter finals for the first time where she will face Svetlana Kuznetsova.
The rush became a trade mark for Simona Halep's game this year. She did the same thing with Sloane Stephens and advanced through after just shy over one hour and consecutive sets won 6-4, 6-3. “It's my style to end every match fast. I'm glad I did not stayed too much time on the court because this way I have more time to recover,” she said after the victory.
Out of all remaining players in the tournament Simona Halep spent the least amount of time on the court with 4 hours and 37 minutes and played the least amount of games 66 and sets 8. Her adversary in the quarter, Svetlana Kuznetsova is at the botton of the list with 7 hours and 21 minutes, 83 games and 9 sets.
However the story in the quarters will be different as the Russian tennis player knows. “I doesn't matter who won the last time we met. It is going to be a new match in Grand Slam quarter finals. It will be difficult and exciting to play with her,” Kuznetsova said.
The winner of the Halep – Kuznetsova quarter final will battle the winner of the Sara Errani – Andrea Petkovic match in the semifinals.
