Real Madrid gains advantage on Bayern Munich
Real-Madrid secured a 1-0 win against Bayern-Munich in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final.
Attack and counter-attack flowed in waves inside the Bernabeu Stadium.
Although the visitors dominated the first half of the game, they didn’t complete any of their actions with a scoring goal.
It was Madrid who took the lead after a swift counter-attack on the left.
Christiano Ronaldo recovered the ball after Bayern striker, Mario Mandzukic, had been blocked, in his attack, by Real Madrid defender, Pepe.
Ronaldo sprung into action, switching from defense to attack and sent a perfectly-weighted ball to Fabio Coentrao who, 19 minutes after the start of the match, edged Real into advantage with the first and only goal of the game.
Next week, Madrid will travel to their opponents stadium, the Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena, with a slight advantage.
The other semi-final match, played on Tuesday, ended with a draw between rival teams Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.
All four teams are still eligible to grab a place in the Champions League finals in Lisbon, on May 24.
