Nole storms into the third round
Novak Djokovic qualified into the third round of the Monte Carlo Master. World number two only needed 45 minutes to destroy Albert Montanes. The Serbian is the defending champion in Monte Carlo, the first ATP 1000 clay event of the year.
Number two seed, Novak Djokovic lost only one game and a total of five points in the second set. After beating Montanes 6-0/6-1, in the third round, “Nole” will face the winner of the duel Gael Monfis – Pablo Carreno Busta.
Also qualified into the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters is fifth seed, Tomas Berdych and ninth seed, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Berdych knocked out Dimitry Tursunov in consecutive sets, 7-5/6-4 while the Frenchman struggled with Philipp Kohlschreiber, 6-4/1-6/6-4.
The 108th edition of the Monte Carlos Masters has a prize pool just shy of 3.5 million euros.
