Nacer Bouhani – 'king of the sprint' in Giro

Marcel Kittel's withdraw from the Giro d'Italia left Frenchman Nacer Bouhanni the “king of sprint”. FDJ's rider won the tenth stage of the tour in Salsomaggiore Terme and became the first rider to have three stage victories this year.

The 173 kilometer stage between Modena and Salsomaggiore Terme was free of incidents except for a crash caused by American sprinter, Tyler Farrar in the last kilometer. Tens of cyclists were caught up, while Bouhanni was left with slim competition to win the stage.

He previously won the fourth stage in Bari and the seventh stage in Foligno. The victory secured his red jersey for the points classification. The young Frenchman has 24 points ahead of Italian Giacomo NIzzolo. Australian Cadel Evans leads the general classification, 57 seconds ahead of Rigoberto Uran.

However, this week will be very important for the Giro. Organizers scheduled a 42 kilometer individual time trial on Thursday, while Saturday and Sunday there are two big mountain stages scheduled.
