Moyes leaves after United fails to qualify
David Moyes quits Manchester United after an extremely disappointing season as manager since he replaced Alex Ferguson in July.
The final straw came on Sunday when United suffered a humiliating 2-0 defeat at Everton, thus failing to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 1995-96.
Moyes was previously in charge of Everton who, in 11 seasons, didn’t win any trophy.
The 50-years-old manager was appointed at Manchester based on Ferguson’s recommendation. The latter retired at the end of the last season, after being on the job for 26 years and stirring United to the title for the 13th time last season.
After Moyes briefly announced his departure, the United team thanked him for ‘the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role.’
