Mayweather: Maidana can have a rematch in September
Marcos Maidana was not the man to go down in history as the first who defeats Floyd Mayweather, but he can have another go at the record. Mayweather confirmed the possibility of a rematch in September.
The Argentinian fighter was close, but not close enough. He had a shot at the WBC and Ring Welterweight titles and at Mayweather itself but lost it. However, Maidana put up a great performance that was appreciated by everyone. A few days after the fight, there are already talks of a possible rematch.
“If Maidana feels he won, in September, he can get it again. Did Maidana win some rounds? Absolutely. I'm not going to cry and complain,” Mayweather stated. He also said in his opinion he dominated the fight. “I think I dominated the fight, but he had times when I was on the ropes. He threw a few big shots that he missed, but he did hit me a lot on the sides. I took my time, I did what I had to do and I went out there and won.”
The Mayweather – Maidana fight brought the American boxer almost 40 million dollars. According to his statement he made 14,815 dollars per second while fighting. At 37 years old, his record is still pure having 46 wins out of 46 matches.
