Low calls Klose but leaves out Gomez for Germany's squad
Joachim Low, Germany's national football team coach announced the provisional 30-man roster for the 2014 Football World Cup in Brazil. European medias stunned by Low after he decided to call in 35 year old Miroslav Klose and leave out Mario Gomez.
Not all 30 men will get to step on Brazilian soil. Germany will play a friendly next week at Duisburg with Poland and it looks like the game will be the last exam for the roster. Low will make up his mind for the 23 men squad who will represent Germany at the world cup.
Low talked about not calling in Mario Gomez. “He has been injured for seven months, only played 280 minutes. I'm of the opinion he would not have been physical shape to play at the tournament,” he said. Calling Miroslav Klose was another big surprise. The German striker will turn 36 in June and if he will go to Brazil it will be his fourth World Cup Final Tournament. “Miro always hits top form at tournaments. It will almost certainly be his last,” added Low.
