'Kings' of Rome Masters
The Nadal – Djokovic rivalry produces one more epic battle. The scene of the duel was Rome Masters and “Nole” managed to overcome a one set deficit to stun Spaniard.
Rafa Nadal looked to be on track of winning his eight Rome masters in the last ten years after snatching the first set, 6-4. However, Djokovic was not on the same page. The Serbian started playing better and better in the second set, took it 6-3, while in decisive it was all about Nole. He made incredible shots to win it 6-3 and the tournament after a spectacular final.
“It definitely feels great, feels right this moment. It's important for me to win this trophy because I came after an injury that unfortunately ruled me out of Madrid Masters. Still, to win in the end against Nadal, who is the ultimate challenger on Clay in a very good fashion gives me confidence,” said Djokovic after the final.
These two players have a history together in the Rome Masters final. In the last decade, the trophy was won by the Spaniard seven times, while the Serb got the rest of them. They have met four times in the final, each player wining two times.
