Jonathan Rea’s first victory at World Superbikes 2014

Sunday marked Jonathan Rea’s first victory of the season in the World Superbikes in Assen, making it the 12th career win for the British rider.

The 27-years-old British rider finished the second race 2.222 seconds in front of Alex Lowes and his Voltcom Crescent Suzuki.

The race itself rose some problems to the organizers who had to call all riders to the stands after only three laps due to heavy rain. Two hours later, the race was resumed but it was shortened by10 laps.

Rea made the best of the difficult racing conditions and the slippery track, managing to distance himself after a chaotic start and maintain his advantage throughout the race.

Race one winner, Aprilia racing rider, Guintoli, and Toni Elias, who was riding the Red Devils Roma Aprilia, both fell. Guintoli managed to pull back into the race and secure a ninth place finish.

Lowes made an unsuccessful last minute attempt to take the lead from Rea during the final lap but almost lost control round a turn, making it easy for Rea to land the first place on the podium.

Ducati’s Davide Giugliano climbed the podium on first place after winning race one.
