Enrique's first hit: Ter Stegen
FC Barcelona has confirmed that Luis Enrique is the new coach. The former Barcelona player signed a two year deal with the Catalan club.
The proposal was made by Andoni Zubizareta, Barcelona's Sporting Director and the board accepted Luis Enrique immediately. This is Luis' third adventure with the Catalan club. He played for Barcelona almost ten years, then coached the second team and now he will be in charge of the first team.
As a player, Enrique joined the team in 1996 from Real Madrid. He played 300 games for the “blau-grana” team and scored 109 goals. After retiring as a player he coached FC Barcelona B, AS Roma and Celva Vigo.
Hours after the news was confirmed, Barcelona announced German goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has signed with the club also. The 22 year old will most likely be the number one next season. The transfer fee was undisclosed.
