Conte: Benfica does not deserve the final
It could have been the perfect season for Juventus. The Italian side has almost secured its Serie A trophy and could have played the Europa league final at home ground if it wasn't for Benfica.
The Portuguese side won the first leg 2-1 and last night managed to hold the game scoreless to qualify. Bookmakers saw Juventus as a main favorite in wining the trophy, but the Italians came short. Antonio Conte was the most furious. With the stats in his hand he said the referee allowed Benfica to break down the game.
“Benfica made just two attempts to score in these two legs and score twice. I think the result went to the club that deserved the final less. We played only 49 minutes on an 66 minutes average and this is just because of obstructive tactics by Benfica and I am sorry this was allowed by the referee,” Antonio Conte said.
2013-2014 UEFA Europa League final will be held at Juventus Stadium ten days from now. The last European trophy won by Juventus dates back almost two decades.
