Beckham's proposal for a stadium in Miami was rejected
David Beckham's dream of owning a team in the Major Soccer League could tear apart. The city of Miami rejected his proposal of building a football stadium on Miami's waterfront and his franchise is now on hold.
The city established the location, so close to the American Airlines Arena (home of the Miami Heat, NBA champions) that it was inappropriate.
The former England captain is now searching for a different location. His business group, Beckham Miami United stated it is already on the hunt for alternative locations within the city. The group must finalise a stadium deal with local authorities before it can receive approval from the Major League Football to open the club.
Beckham's group stated it is ready to finance the 20,000 seat stadium with 250 million dollars and also pay rent on the publicly owned land.
