Arena Corinthians is nor ready for the World Cup
FIFA and Brazilian officials can start to worry. With less than ten days before the Football World Cup opener, the arena that's suppose to house the first match is not ready. The 63,000 seat arena will only support 40,000 people.
Brazil should face Croatia in the first game of the World Cup in Sao Paolo in front of the home crowd. But their fans have a problem, a big one. Some of them that already bought tickets will not see the game from the stands.
Sky Sports went to Sao Paolo and saw the construction site. “At the end of the 300 million dollar stadium you can see the work is not done There is no roofing and falseworks are not even hidden,” said Geraint Hughes.
Some claim the stadium will only host 40,000 people at Brazil's opener against Croatia out of the 63,000 seats because work at the temporary seating from the back of the goals is not finished. The last test for the stadium is scheduled on Sunday when it will host the game between Corinthians and Botafogo. French newspaper L'Equipe claims there is a possibility that FIFA will not allow people in the upper stands behind the goals at the much awaited game of Brazil.
The stadium should have been completed and ready to house World Cup games in December 2013, but a few accidents delayed the project by more than half a year.
