All hopes rest in Louis van Gaal
The 2013-2014 has been a complete nightmare for Manchester United fans and an awful one for the players. Now, Louis van Gaal has been named manager and all hopes of reviving the team rest in him.
Manchester United finished seventh in the Premier League and failed to qualify for any European competition for the first time in more than two decades. David Moyes has been sacked and the team was managed by Ryan Giggs the rest of the season. However, United officials proudly announced recently that Louis van Gaal will take charge after leading the Netherlands at the World Cup in Brazil.
Van Gaal signed a three year deal with Manchester United. He is regarded as a very strict coach. “When he watches, you give a little more effort in what you are doing. When I was young, I was scared of him and feared him a bit,” said Frank De Boer for British media, one of his former player.
Louis van Gaal won two Spanish leagues with FC Barcelona, one in Germany with Bayern Munich, and led AZ Alkmaar to their second Dutch title in history. He is also renowned for having a great relation with Manchester United and Dutch football star Robin van Persie, who he appointed the captain of the national team.
