2014 is Colin Edwards’ last year in MotoGP
American MotoGP rider, Colin Edwards, announced that 2014 will be the end of his 22 years motorbike racing career.
The 40 years old NGM Forward Racing rider entered the MotoGP world in 2003 and, since then, has climbed onto 12 podiums. He also won the Superbike World Championship twice, the first time in 2000 and then again in 2002.
Edwards revealed his retirement plans this week, just before this weekend’s Grand Prix of the Americas. ‘I want to spend more time with my wife and my children and of course I want to say thanks to Yamaha and everyone who has helped me in my career,’ Colin explained.
Edwards has made many friends since he went professional in 1992, friends like Valentino Rossi, six-time MotoGP world champion, who says: ‘I am very sad about the news of Colin's retirement as he is one of my best friends in the paddock. He is a great guy and a great rider.’
