Minecraft mastermind buys Sweden's most expensive penthouse

Markus Persson, better known as “Notch” is renowned for being the man behind Minecraft. Having fun with virtual property was not enough for Persson who acquired the most expensive penthouse in the entire Sweden.

At 35 years old, Markus Persson will now be famous for owning one of the coolest and most expensive apartments in Stockholm. Earlier this week he acquired the rooftop residence in Ostermalm, a district in the capital city renowned for high prices. His brand new property is no exception.

The apartment features a wine cellar, walk-in closets in every single room and a top of the line sound system. Above all, the lavish property has an outdoor jacuzzi to top it off. The apartment sold for 30,000 US dollars per square meter. According to Dagens Industry newspaper this is a new all time high for Stockholm and Sweden.

The expensive acquisition will not leave Persson without funds. Last year alone, the successful Minecraft brought him in excess of 100 million dollars. Since its creation in 2009, Minecraft has sold in excess of 50 million copies around the world.
