$2 million for Bob Dylan’s song draft
The hand-written draft of Bob Dylan’s beloved song, ‘Like a Rolling Stone’ established a world record after it was sold for over $2 million in an auction.
Sotheby’s auction house declared that it is the highest price anyone ever paid for a pop-music manuscript.
The buyer, whose name was not disclosed, paid $2.045 million for the four sheets of paper, written in pencil by Dylan’s own hand.
The manuscript is ‘the only known surviving draft of the final lyrics for this transformative rock anthem,’ said Sotheby’s.
Alongside the lyrics to ‘Like a Rolling Stone,’ the drafts also contain revisions, addition, notes and doodles of a hat, a bird and an animal with antlers.
Last year, Bob Dylan’s electric guitar was auctioned for $1 million.
