Internet thieves rob bank of 500,000 euros
Nowadays, thieves no longer need to come up with an ‘Ocean’s 11’-like plan to commit a crime. Robbery can be successfully performed from the comfort of your home, as one bank recently experienced first-hand.
The Kaspersky Lab security firm discovered that cyber thieves have robbed a major European bank of more than half a million euros.
One week was all the time the internet criminals needed to ease the bank accounts of over 200 of the bank’s customers.
The robbery was committed in January and mostly Italian and Turkish people had their bank accounts plundered.
Although the server that was used to carry out the crime had been shut down, cyber thieves might strike again by using the same technique.
