Skype drops offensive emoticons
Skype’s last update to the 6.14 version has dropped some of its previous features, such as emoticons that might have the ‘potential to offend,’ as its community managers admit.
Some of the removed emoticons showed a woman wearing high heels and a smiley face flipping the finger.
The emoticons were part of a group of hidden icons, separate from the standard ones.
This family of underground icons still exists, tough, ranging from a drunk smiley to a smoking smiley or to one that is wearing boxing gloves.
The change did not go unnoticed as some Skype users complained on the company’s website forums.
