Kbox drops Kinect to reduce One's price

Microsoft recently announced its gaming console, Xbox One will be available without its Kinect sensor starting from June. The move drops the price of the console to 399 dollars. Tech specialists say it's a surprise move, but critics claim the measure was taken to boost sales.

The gaming console from Microsoft did not perform as well as the tech giant expected. Sales figure did not match early estimates. Not even Titanfall could do anything for the console. The game was sold for a while in a bundle to help boost sales, but Play Station 4, its main rival, managed even better figures without the help of any game.

So, Microsoft had to do something and do it fast to save the console. Eventually, officials at Xbox decided to ditch the Kinetic sensor to lower the price by about 100 dollars. The news was well received by games. Starting from 9th of June, the Xbox One will be available for 399 dollars.

“It's a lot of Kinect that I really love, but we also heard from people that they just like to play games with controller in their hand. And they play multi-player games through Xbox Live. What we wanted to do for those people is to make sure there is a version of Xbox that really meets the exact needs they have,” said Phil Spencer, Microsoft's head of Xbox.
