Ukrainian Communist Party headquarters set on fire
The first two floors of the Communist Party headquarters in Kiev, Ukraine, were burned. The two floors were completely destroyed, said the press service of the Ukrainian Emergency Services, on Thursday.
The fire broke out in the four-story building on Wednesday night. No one was hurt and the flames were extinguished after a few hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation, writes Itar -Tass.
According to preliminary information, it is an arson. "Fire can't break out in four places at once," said a spokesman for emergency services.
Wednesday, the police visited the Communist headquarters twice. The activists lustration committee, supporters of the regime in Kiev, were invited to leave the property voluntarily.
Activists rejected in the first phase the police request but left the building 20 minutes before the outbreak of fire.
Tensions among the Ukrainian politicians are increasing. Ukrainian lawmakers have taken the fight on Tuesday in the plenum of the Supreme Rada in Kiev.
It all started after the communist parliamentary leader, Piotr Simonenko, accused the nationalists of playing as Russia dictates, applying extreme measures during the crisis that swept Ukraine.
In response, two lawmakers from the Svoboda right-wing party, went to Simonenko and surrounded him with the visible intention of hitting him, but only pushed him from the rostrum where communist delivered a speech.
Communists came to defend their leader and then representatives of the two political groups began to share fists and feet, regardless of where they were.
