Re-elected PM, Viktor Orbán, wants autonomy for Hungarians abroad
Hunagry’s Viktor Orbán was formally re-elected as Prime Minister for a second consecutive term.
He told the crowd standing outside that his energy will go into defending the Hungarian people’s rights within the EU: ‘At the European elections we have to send a message to Brussels loud and clear: we want respect for Hungarians. Let’s send politicians there who are able to fight for the respect that Hungarians deserve.’
During his last term, Orbán made a very disputed move when he replaced the EU flag in the parliament with a Hungarian one.
Now, the re-elected PM wants autonomy for minority Hungarians who live in the neighboring countries, especially Ukraine which is home to 200,000 ethnic Hungarians.
However, since Orbán was accused, in the past, by Brussels, of trying to expand the state’s powers, now the PM said his European policies will be conducted with ‘open dialogue and brave thinking.’
